How to wear linen from summer into fall

Linen has a reputation as a summer-only fabric, but some of our favorite ways to wear it happen once the weather cools down.

Layer a knit over it

A chunky cardigan or a simple crewneck over a linen dress or shirt is the easiest fall outfit there is. The texture mix of knit and linen looks effortless.

Go for deeper colors

Chocolate, brick, olive, and black linen feel right at home in October. Try the Orchard Wide-Leg Pant in brick or the Barn Jacket in chocolate.

Add boots

Swap sandals for ankle boots or loafers. A long linen skirt or wide-leg pant with boots is a classic for a reason.

Use linen as the outer layer

A heavier linen jacket or blazer over a sweater works beautifully on crisp mornings, and you can take it off when the afternoon warms up.

Keep the shapes simple

Relaxed trousers, button-down shirts, and long sleeves carry over from season to season. Buy a few good basics and you will wear them all year
